About Us
The Guild began in 1934 when a group of women gathered to help the Cleveland Humane Society, now known as Children’s Services, dress dolls for Christmas. Through the years, The Guild has grown, matured, and kept up with the times but we remain loyal to our dedication of supporting children in Greater Cleveland.
We raise funds by designing and crafting unique items such as home décor, clothing for all ages, gourmet foods, jewelry and other accessories that are available for sale at our annual “Creations” boutique held in October. At previous Creations, we have auctioned trips as well as top-of-the-line apparel and furnishings. All proceeds from this event are then allocated to organizations in Greater Cleveland working with and for children.
The Children’s Guild is a registered 501(c)3 organization. We have very little overhead. We do not have a staff or office. Our meetings and work groups are held in our homes. The members make and donate everything for “Creations”. Membership dues help pay for our expenses such as postage and stationery. One hundred percent of all proceeds from our benefits are distributed to Greater Cleveland organizations working with children.
Over the past 81 years, this group of dedicated women has allocated to Cleveland organizations over $1,908,023. We do not give large sums to any one organization and work only with organizations in Greater Cleveland whose budget is under five million dollars. We fill requests such as camp scholarships, music lessons, books and school supplies for child care facilities, abuse and bereavement counseling, and art therapy. Although we receive new requests each year, many organizations have received funding from us for many years.
Sometimes it only takes a little to change the life of a child. We try to help.
